Draft CCE Accreditation Standards, Section 2.K Only – Call for Comment
In accordance with CCE Policy 23, Authority, Responsibility and Action Regarding CCE Standards, if the Council determines that the Standards are no longer in compliance with USDE or CHEA requirements/criteria or determined to be confusing or lacking clarity, the Council has the authority to revise the Standards. The Council must then provide a written revision of the affected portion of the Standards only and the revision shall be disseminated and posted to the CCE website for at least 60 days to allow all constituencies of interest an opportunity to submit public comments for review by the Council prior to approval.
Recent USDE Distance Education and Innovation regulations were forged to enhance educational quality, and reduce barriers to innovation while maintaining safeguards to limit the risks to students and taxpayers. The Distance Education and Innovation rule was the result of a months-long negotiated rulemaking effort that began with public hearings and engaged a subcommittee of subject matter experts to formulate recommendations that were ultimately considered by a panel of representatives from the higher education and consumer protection communities. Negotiators reached consensus on the language, which strikes a balance between fostering innovation and protecting students and taxpayers from waste, fraud, and abuse. The regulations will officially take effect July 1, 2021 and the CCE must revise Standard 2.K regarding Distance or Correspondence Education to be compliant with the new requirements.
Therefore, the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) invites the submission of public comment to the “April 1, 2021 Proposed Revision” of the CCE Accreditation Standards for review and action by the Council at its July 2021 Semi-Annual Meeting. All comments must be received through the provided survey link on the CCE website---U. S. mail or faxes are not accepted.
Public comments intended for consideration by the Council at the July 2021 meeting must be received no later than 4:30 pm (PDT) on May 31, 2021 in the CCE Administrative Office.
